Cirebon — Lecturer of the Islamic History and Culture Study Program (SKI), Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences (FADIB), UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Nur Rokhim, M.Hum., appeared as one of the presenters at the ADIA International Conference 2026. This international scientific forum was organized by UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon on July 22-25, 2026 at The Luxton Cirebon Hotel & Convention.

Nur Rokhim delivered his presentation on Thursday, July 23, 2026, by presenting a paper entitled "The Chinese Community and Islamic Trade Network in Gresik Port in the 15th–16th Century: Between Historical Studies and Digital Humanities Innovation."

In his presentation, he reviewed the role of the Chinese community in the Islamic trade network in Gresik Port in the 15th to 16th centuries, as well as offering a digital humanities approach as a methodological innovation in the study of the archipelago's maritime history.

In his presentation, Nur Rokhim emphasized that the position of the Chinese community in Gresik is much more central than what has been described in historiography.

"The Chinese community occupies a strategic position in Gresik's trade ecosystem — mastering logistics, capital, navigation, and cross-cultural intermediaries. They are the backbone of the emporium's operations, not just immigrants who happen to stop by," he said.

The presentation went smoothly and received a positive response from the participants, who showed their enthusiasm for the combination of in-depth historical studies and the use of digital approaches in Islamic historical research.

The ADIA International Conference 2026 itself was attended by representatives of lecturers from various State Islamic Religious Universities (PTKIN) and Private Islamic Religious Universities (PTKIS) throughout Indonesia, making this forum a strategic event to expand academic networks while enriching the scientific discourse of Islamic manners and culture at the national and international levels.

Nur Rokhim's participation in this forum also strengthens the contribution of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, especially the Islamic History and Culture Study Program FADIB, in the development of historical studies of Islamic civilization in the archipelago based on historical research and digital innovation.
